The Flaxman journey began in a way Colin and Fiona could never have predicted - with Col making the unexpected decision to purchase a vineyard while working a 6-week vintage in March 2004. This significant life change meant relocating from Melbourne, swapping careers and embarking on a new chapter in the beautiful Eden Valley Barossa.
The vineyard is planted out with Riesling, Shiraz, and Semillon, which were first planted back in 1929. Colin then also sources grapes from local growers in both the Eden Valley & Barossa to expanded the range to include a wider variety of wines. Col is at the helm of the wine production, directly overseeing the entire process.
Colin's background as a builder has allowed them to realise their vision, constructing a welcoming cellar door and an alfresco outdoor dining area. Colin has built a large pergola housing a 4.5 metre long table, alongside a handmade pizza oven for their guests to enjoy the food and wine on offer, all while overlooking the vineyard.
The Flaxman team warmly invite you to visit their Cellar Door & Winery for a tasting experience from Thursday through to Saturday, (Sundays are by appointment only). Booking in advance is highly recommended due to the very small cellar door. 72 hours notice is required for our 3-course & 5-course leisurely lunch options.
Situated in the beautiful Eden Valley & Barossa, just 10 minutes away from Angaston and Tanunda, and an hour's drive from Adelaide, the location offers a visit that is worth taking the detour to Eden Valley.
